The Kelburn Brewing Company started brewing in October 2001 and started brewing in April 2002 at Barrhead, near Glasgow. The brewery is a family run business operated by Derek Moore, his partner Margaret, son Ross and daughter Karen. Kelburn has a ten barrel brew plant utilizing a standard single step infusion brewing process and beers are cold conditioned prior to packaging. The base malt for the majority of ales is UK Maris Otter 2-row pale malt and whole hops are used for bittering and aroma. Kelburn ales are generally available as guest cask ales in many outlets across the U.K.
